02b / Scope of Foundations

Toward a comprehensive reproductive research framework

The roadmap addresses the full reproductive continuum in space: natural conception, implantation, pregnancy, fetal development, birth, assisted reproduction, and potential future reproductive technologies. The inaugural framework begins with the earliest and most foundational biological stages, which serve as the first building blocks for the research and roadmap development that follow.

Research into human reproduction beyond Earth is expected to generate valuable insights and technological advances with potential applications in fertility care and reproductive healthcare on Earth.

02d / Future iterations

Beyond Foundations, the full life-cycle ahead

The roadmap addresses the complete continuum of human reproduction beyond Earth. Foundation 1.0 takes the first step, concentrating on the foundational gamete-to-birth stages that the later work builds upon. Future iterations extend this same scope outward across the full life-cycle, adding pillars that reach beyond the current Foundations.

The roadmap is intentionally iterative. Symposium 2 in 2026 will further refine and expand the roadmap framework, translating initial priorities into more mature research domains and collaborative roadmap building blocks.
